To Go Private or Do Away With Completely?

So I've noticed and then someone else brought to my attention the random comments I've been getting from people that have a link that says to "click on." First, DON'T click on them, and second, know that I have no clue who these people are. I don't want to do the whole private blog. I don't think many people read my blog, or if they do they just don't comment, but I the whole private thing just doesn't appeal to me. So do I just quit blogging all together? Or just diligently check the comments and delete the nutty ones? Inquiring minds would like to know. Thanks!

My two cents... I would continue to frequently check comments. It might be a fluke-thing and not really happen again. I got some crazy comments several months back, but they never visited my site again. Which brings me to point #2, you could put a counter on your page so you can view it. like sitemeter.com or feedjit.com. I have sitemeter.com and it allows me to monitor if I am getting "unknown visitors" on webpage and I can also tell if ever return. I don't mind people randomly visiting my site, but if they become frequent visitors and I can't determine who they are, then I get concerned. But, I have figured out all my repeat readers, so no worries.

I get a lot of the "click here" comments, and I just delete them. I know many people have found me through other people's blogs and vice versa. Making it private would make that hard.

Well, I hope you keep this thing going. I check it often, and though I might not always comment, I love it when you post new stuff. Why don't you just enable comment moderation?

i was going to agree with deidre - i have comment moderation and am a fan for a lot of reasons!

also, i took it in to get it checked out and they did not find an actual virus but have in the past. apparently this is a new common thing. they recommended to make sure all of your software/programs are up to date. they have seen these things corrupt files, but not actually crash a computer - yet. they also said some of them are linked to pop up windows to try and make you buy things you don't need (like new antivirus programs that aren't needed...)
